BioVision Technologies offers the following range of Prior Scientific arc lamp illumination products for brightfield and fluorescence microscopy applications:
The Prior Scientific Lumen 200PRO and Lumen 220 Pro Fluorescence Illumination Systems combine Prior’s proprietary 2,000 hour life, 200‐watt metal arc lamp with an integral high‐speed motorized filter wheel and high‐speed motorized light attenuator.
Designed to mount remotely via a liquid light guide, the Lumen 200PRO and Lumen 220Pro eliminate heat transfer to the microscope, minimizing thermal drift and aiding image stability in long term experiments.
The Lumen 220Pro provides extended wavelength in ultraviolet and infrared. This produces significant increases in signal strength from fluorophores that require light at 360 nm and below.
The Lumen 200 Fluorescence Illumination System is a powerful, cost‐effective alternative to standard 100 Watt mercury and halogen lamphouses. The combination of Prior’s proprietary 2,000 hour life, 200‐watt metal arc lamp and two‐ or three‐meter liquid light guide provide unrivalled versatility and illumination power. The Lumen 200 utilizes a metal halide lamp rather than the more traditional high‐pressure mercury or xenon burners. This means 2000 hours of stable output compared to a maximum of 300 hours for a mercury lamp. Coupled to the microscope using a liquid light guide there is very little heat transfer helping to eliminate thermal drift during time lapse experiments. The Lumen 200 also incorporates a variable light attenuation control to reduce the potential of bleaching and phototoxicity.
The Lumen 220 model offers extended transmission in ultraviolet and infrared. This produces significant increases in signal strength from fluorophores that require light at 360 nm and below.
The Lumen 200S is a powerful, cost‐effective alternative to standard 100 Watt mercury and halogen lamphouses. With a minimum exposure time of 30 milliseconds, the Lumen 200S is suitable for the most demanding imaging applications. A wide variety of control options are available for the Lumen 200S including RS232, USB, TTL and via the ProScan III shutter port. Designed to mount remotely via a two‐ or three‐meter liquid light guide the Lumen 200S eliminates heat transfer to the microscope, minimizing thermal drift and aiding image stability in long term experiments.
