Ultra‐Stable Fluorescence Light Source for Microscopy

The X‐Cite® exacte ultra‐stable fluorescence light source employs a DC‐powered mercury lamp coupled with patented Closed‐Loop Feedback technology to provide unmatched short‐ and long‐term intensity stability, for imaging protocols lasting from milliseconds to days. With the X‐Cite® exacte Optical Power Measurement System, light output can also be calibrated in absolute power units (watts), ensuring truly repeatable fluorescence illumination for imaging experiments.

The X‐Cite® exacte microscope light source combines the convenience of pre‐aligned, long‐life lamps and easy installation with innovative functions in the newest generation of mercury arc fluorescence illumination systems.

The X‐Cite exacte is designed to provide illumination stability and precise repeatability for demanding imaging applications such as live cell, high speed and quantitative imaging. It allows researchers to significantly improve productivity by reducing or even eliminating time-consuming image processing steps to normalize data.

With the X‐Cite® exacte’s high-speed internal shutter, intensity adjustment in increments as small as 1%, computer programmability and a graphical user interface that records real-time stability data, Excelitas Technologies sets a standard for fluorescence illuminators.

The X‐Cite® exacte uses a 120‐Watt lamp to deliver rich spectral excitation with a more uniform field of view than conventional fluorescence illumination systems. Proprietary Intelli‐Lamp® technology helps to provide over 2,000 hours of life with a prealigned lamp to make changing a simple one-step process.

The X‐Cite® exacte connects to the microscope through a light guide attachment ensuring a uniform field of view, with no heat from the lamp being transferred to the sample.

X‐Cite® Optical Power Measurement System

The X‐Cite Optical Power Measurement System includes both the X‐Cite XR2100 Power Meter and the X‐Cite XP750 Objective Plane Power Sensor. Designed for measuring optical power in watts at the specimen level, the X‐Cite XP750 has a low, sleek profile that fits on the microscope stage and offers the versatility of measuring power output from an X‐Cite illuminator or any other epi-fluorescence light source.

The X‐Cite XR2100 and X‐Cite XP750 allow you to measure the optical power at the specimen level enabling consistent and repeatable illumination throughout research experiments, and also assist in equipment set-up and troubleshooting. With a PC interface and “Power Snapshot” tool, data can be easily stored electronically for complete experiment records. For the ultimate in repeatability, the X‐Cite XR2100 will calibrate the X‐Cite exacte illuminator using power data from either the light guide input port or the X‐Cite XP750 at the objective plane.

The X‐Cite® 120PC Q offers rich spectral sample excitation with a uniformly illuminated field of view, the convenience of pre‐aligned lamps, 2000‐hour lamp lifetime, and adjustable iris — with the added option and benefits of a computer controlled microscope light source. The straightforward RS‐232 communication and command set easily allows integration into automated systems as well as commercially available imaging software platforms.

Wide‐Field Fluorescence Microscope Excitation Light Source

The X‐Cite® 120Q excitation light source uses a 120‐watt lamp to deliver rich spectral excitation energy and uniform wide‐field fluorescence microscope illumination to the sample plane. The proprietary Intelli‐Lamp® provides more than 2000 hours of life. The lamp is pre‐aligned so changing it is a simple, one‐step process. The optional adjustable iris allows the user to set the level of illumination. The X‐Cite 120Q is ideally suited for fluorescence microscopes being used in routine assays and as an excitation light source for use in multi‐user facilities.
